Sepp Osley band

(Formerly Blurred Vision)

Jake was called to audition for Blurred Vision in 2018, where he was subsequently offered the job as their drummer.

As of 2023, Blurred Vision changed it’s title to Sepp Osley’s name, and on 6/10/23 released the debut EP, Love & Revolution. Sepp Osley’s debut album is in the works, and Jake is co-producing alongside Sepp.

Jake’s role within the Blurred Vision outfit grew over the years as Sepp (Osley, founder & singer/guitarist), being impressed with Jake’s musical output and media compositional work, asked Jake to co-produce Blurred Vision’s upcoming 3rd album. This includes - but isn’t limited to - composing for and orchestrating a string section, programming synth patches and developing melodic sections, and orchestrating a percussion ensemble that has become a driving force throughout the as-yet-untitled album.

Along with co-producing the 3rd album, Jake was tasked with producing Dear John (Single), a re-recording of an original Blurred Vision song released in support of the 2020 Dear John concert in aid of War Child UK. The concert features an array of guest singers and artists, with Blurred Vision acting as the backing band covering The Beatles and John Lennon songs.

The Dear John single has now been released under the Sepp Osley name, and features Peter Frampton on guitar and Mollie Marriot on guest vocals. The track features a string quartet orchestrated by Jake, along with many nods to the classic-era Beatles.

The Bloody Mallard

What started life as an email inquiring about the possibility of hiring Jake to record an album, has become a fruitful endeavour of musical possibilities and pushing Jake to his performing and drumming limits. The Bloody Mallard mix post-rock with dark psychedelia to create a broad progressive instrumental sound. This broad palette of sound gives Jake plenty of opportunity to stretch his limbs on the kit and further explore musical themes and styles within the songs, and personally push his understanding of rhythm, timing, and technical expression.

The debut album Realm (release: 08.05.20, available here) is a progressive and heavy psychedelic journey [which] moves through different tones, pace and themes as it encourages the listener to explore their inner mind with a meditative state of reflection. Realm was produced and engineer by Jarred Hearmen at the world-renowned KONK studios, and City Sounds Studios. Hear the track Ceremonious Synapses (ii) and watch the video below.

The Bloody Mallard continues to perform, and are booked to play at some major upcoming rock festivals. Follow the link below for more information.

The Reasoning

Jake joined The Reasoning at the age of 17, his first professional band straight out of secondary school. Jake went on to record 3 studio albums, 1 live DVD filmed at the inaugural High Voltage Festival, and 1 live album recorded in Gettysburg, PA, at the prestigious Rites of Spring Festival.

The band completed many UK and EU tours, including a co-headline tour with UK-band Touchstone.

Due to his work with the band, Jake was honoured by the readers of UK-based Prog magazine by voting him 5th in the ‘best drummers of 2010’ category, just behind such greats as Mike Portnoy, Gavin Harrison, Nick D'Virgilio and Neil Peart.
